Let's Agree to Disagree

In the last few weeks things kept escalating worldwide. Media, doctors, other professionals, and people who are NOT qualified to give their opinion about this matter, flooded the internet with information related to Covid-19 virus. Even most peaceful people started getting overwhelmed. I am not immune to this either. One of the biggest challenges for me recently -  was not to judge other people's opinions, their beliefs and actions. I get it, it is a difficult time. 

But it is important to remember that this just adds unnecessary stress. As I mentioned in my previous emails, stress causes more damage than any virus could. Stress stops the immune system from functioning, and that is the most important system to keep us healthy! Almost everyone, including big companies, are saying: ”we are all in this together”. This is true. However, I don’t feel like many of us truly internalize what that statement truly means. We are in this together means that this situation will impact everyone, even if you:

  1. Already worked from home

  2. Worked for a small business or owned a business 

  3. Worked for a large company

  4. Was self-employed

  5. Had online business

  6. Are retired

  7. Worked for the government….

Some people got affected immediately, like my spa, it closed due to the “safer at home” order, and the income stopped coming that same day. For some other businesses or individuals it will take longer to feel the effect, but no one will come out of this untouched. 

Let's go back to judgment. Everyone has their own opinion about this situation with the Covid-19 virus. And guess what? They have a right to believe what feels right to them. Even if they are on opposite sides of the fence. It is ok to share information you have, but don’t allow your ego to get in the way, and try to prove everyone, who doesn't agree with you. Let's agree to disagree and move on. Fighting with each other will not help to improve ANYTHING! All of us do the best we can.

Most importantly, we are all connected through energy. The dominating energy on the planet earth affects our mood. Let me tell you, the dominating energy is not the most positive lately. Thankfully, meditation helps to raise that vibration. It works not just on a personal level, but also on a bigger scale. There is a wonderful book by Lynne McTaggart “The intention experiment: Using your thoughts to change your life and the World”.

In this book, author, Using cutting-edge research conducted at Princeton, MIT, Stanford, and many other prestigious universities and laboratories, The Intention Experiment reveals that the universe is connected by a vast quantum energy field. Thought generates its own palpable energy, which you can use to improve your life and, when harnessed together with an interconnected group, to change the world.

I invite you to start every day with a mood uplifting meditation. There are plenty of free meditations on YouTube and on phone apps. Just listening to nature sounds recordings, waterfalls or relaxation music works well too.

Start a daily gratitude journal. Gratitude is a positive emotional state in which one recognizes and appreciates what one has in their life. Research shows that taking time to experience gratitude can make you happier and even healthier. Take 5-10 minutes each night to write down things for which you are grateful. They can be little things or big things.

Choose one experience of the day and savor it. It can be enjoying a cup of coffee, taking a bath or listening to music. Savoring is the act of stepping outside of an experience to review and appreciate it. Savoring intensifies and lengthens the positive emotions that come with doing something you love. 

Practice random acts of kindness. You can do one extra act of kindness every day. It doesn’t have to be over the top things, but it should be something that really helps or impacts another person. This email to you is my act of kindness for today.
